Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a panel of seven (7) CIDB-graded EB1 and EB2 contractors to provide basic electrical maintenance services on an as-and-when-required basis at Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT). The panel aims to facilitate rapid response to routine, corrective, and minor electrical maintenance needs across MUT facilities, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with statutory standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Day-to-day electrical maintenance activities such as minor repairs, fault rectification, component replacement, and general upkeep of electrical installations.
• Scheduled preventative maintenance in line with agreed plans to minimize equipment failure and extend infrastructure lifespan.
• Urgent and emergency response services to address electrical faults or failures that pose safety risks or operational disruptions.

The contractor shall perform these services across various MUT facilities, ensuring continuous and safe electrical operations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the contractors include:

• Possession of valid CIDB grading of EB1 or EB2.
• Provision of qualified electrical artisans with relevant trade certificates and wireman’s licenses.
• Experience in basic electrical maintenance services, demonstrated through reference letters and company profile.
• Availability of key personnel with appropriate qualifications, experience, and safety certifications (e.g., working at heights, first aid, firefighting).
• Provision of public liability insurance cover of at least R2,000,000.00.
• Compliance with electrical installation regulations and registration with relevant authorities.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required from the bidders include:

• Qualified electrical artisans with relevant trade certificates and wireman’s licenses.
• Experience in electrical fault diagnosis, repairs, and maintenance.
• Ability to perform scheduled preventative maintenance and emergency repairs efficiently.
• Proven track record through reference letters for similar electrical maintenance projects.
• Competence in safety procedures and compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
• Effective communication skills for coordination and reporting.
