Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for the supply and installation of steel shelving at Margate Clinic, under the auspices of Gamalakhe Community Health Centre. The aim is to procure and implement shelving solutions that meet specified standards, ensuring proper storage, safety, and functionality within the health facility.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Supply of all necessary materials, including proprietary steel shelving units as specified.
• Delivery and installation of the steel shelving units at Margate Clinic.
• Connection, testing, and commissioning to ensure the shelving is in good service condition.
• Adherence to all relevant standards, regulations, and specifications, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Department of Health standards.
• Site inspection, site clearance, and ensuring work is completed within the stipulated contract period of four weeks.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Supply and installation of bolted steel shelving units with back and side panels, baked epoxy powder coating, and specific dimensions (e.g., room space of approximately 3m x 3.3m x 2.4m).
• Units must be closed on three sides with steel panels for stability and cleanliness.
• All materials must conform to SABS standards and be approved by the Department of Health.
• Work must comply with the National Building Regulations, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and relevant specifications.
• Proper site preparation, including site visits, measurements, and ensuring no electrical or network cables are cut without prior approval.
• Installation to be completed within four weeks, with lead time of one week and site work of three weeks.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Competence in supply and installation of steel shelving systems, with relevant experience and technical capability.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including proper use of PPE, hazard notices, and machine guarding.
• Ability to perform site inspections, measurements, and ensure compliance with specifications.
• Experience in working within healthcare environments, adhering to strict standards of cleanliness and safety.
• Capability to coordinate with site supervisors, maintain project timelines, and ensure quality workmanship.
• Provision of qualified personnel, including supervisors and skilled workers, familiar with occupational health and safety procedures.
