Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to secure a service provider for the cleaning of gardens and grounds at the Church of Scotland Hospital (Cosh) for a period of six months. The aim is to ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of the hospital grounds, including grass cutting, pruning, weed control, and removal of garden refuse, thereby enhancing the hospital's environment and hygiene standards.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Maintenance of all garden areas within the hospital property
• Mowing of grassed areas and nature strips
• Removal of rubbish and debris from all areas
• Sweeping and blowing pathways, gutters, and driveways
• Trimming and pruning trees and shrubs, including overhanging branches
• Removal and replacement of dead or failed trees/shrubs/plants
• Weed removal and weed control in all garden and property areas
• Removal of garden refuse on a weekly basis in line with waste management guidelines
• Tree felling and advanced tree maintenance as required
• Car park and pathway maintenance, including weed control and debris removal
• Mulching, site clean-up, and periodic site improvements

The service is to be delivered over a six-month contract period, with specified frequency and standards as detailed in the specifications.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with attached specifications and standards for garden maintenance
• Use of appropriate machinery and equipment, such as lawn mowers, brushcutters, trimmers, leaf blowers, and safety gear
• Adherence to safety procedures, including submission of Job Safety Analyses and Material Safety Data Sheets
• Proper packing, handling, and transportation of garden refuse and equipment
• Provision of warranties for all supplied equipment and materials
• Timely delivery of services as per agreed schedules
• Compliance with environmental and waste management standards

Skills Requirements

The bidder must demonstrate:

• Experience in grounds and garden maintenance, with proof of previous similar contracts
• Competence in operating and maintaining gardening machinery and tools
• Qualified personnel trained in horticultural practices, safety procedures, and environmental standards
• Ability to perform tree pruning, felling, and advanced landscaping works
• Knowledge of waste management and garden refuse disposal protocols
• Capacity to provide technical support, supervision, and quality assurance throughout the contract period
