Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to secure a service provider for the rendering of twelve (12) months gardening maintenance and horticultural services at Mankweng Magistrate Office on a month-to-month basis. The goal is to ensure the upkeep, landscaping, and maintenance of the specified area, adhering to relevant standards and regulations, for a period of one year.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Removal of dead plants, pruning of trees, shrubs, palms, and overgrown vegetation.
• Creation of firebreaks outside the fence.
• Supply of horticultural materials such as compost, lawn dressing, seedlings, fertilizers, mulching, herbicides, and pesticides.
• Control of invasive plant species through cutting, poisoning stumps, and manual removal.
• Regular garden maintenance including lawn mowing, flowerbed upkeep, and plant replanting.
• Maintenance of hard landscaping structures and cleaning of gutters and pavements.
• Pruning of trees and shrubs according to seasonal requirements.
• Irrigation management, including manual watering of plants and lawns.
• Pest control and disease management for plants and lawns.
• Refuse removal and bush clearance on undeveloped areas.

The contractor must supply all necessary tools, equipment, and materials, and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and standards.

Technical Requirements

• Adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Act, Environmental Acts, and other relevant legislation.
• Security clearance for personnel prior to commencement.
• Provision of appropriate signage, PPE, and safety equipment.
• Use of approved chemicals and herbicides, with experienced personnel for pest and weed control.
• Regular inspection, testing, and quality assurance of work performed.
• Proper documentation, including job cards, attendance registers, and proof of payments.
• Maintenance of equipment and tools in good working condition.
• Implementation of environmental and waste management protocols.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified horticulturists or gardeners with experience in landscape maintenance.
• Personnel trained in the use of pesticides, herbicides, and pest control methods.
• Staff with knowledge of safety procedures and use of PPE.
• Supervisors with a minimum of NQF Level 6 in Horticulture or Landscaping.
• Ability to operate gardening machinery and tools safely and efficiently.
• Competence in environmental management and waste disposal.
• Experience in working within government or similar institutional environments.
