Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure surgeons gowns (theatre) in various sizes (M, L, XL, XXL) made of fabric green, for use at Wentworth Hospital under the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health. The process aims to ensure the supply of compliant, quality surgical gowns that meet specified standards and specifications, supporting the hospital's operational needs.

Scope

The scope includes the supply and delivery of surgeons gowns in specified sizes and fabric standards, conforming to detailed specifications outlined in the annexure. The procurement covers multiple sizes (Small to XXX-Large), with specific fabric, colour, lettering, and construction requirements. The gowns are to be supplied once-off, with delivery to Wentworth Hospital, and must adhere to the technical and quality standards specified.

Technical Requirements

• Gowns must be made of SABS 1401 Part I and IV Type P.48, 100% pre-shrunk cotton.
• Colour: Jade Green (CKs 129-40c) with white knitted cuffs.
• Design features include an overlapping back, fastening at the side neck and waist, raglan sleeves with autoclaveable cuffs, and a round neck.
• Lettering: Marked with KZN 20 mm black lettering over the entire face of the gown.
• Size specifications vary from Small to XXX-Large, with detailed measurements for neck, chest, length, sleeve, and hem.
• Gowns must have neat, secure seams, hemmed edges, and be autoclaveable.
• Samples may be required for approval, and all gowns must comply with attached specifications and standards.

Skills and Competency Requirements

• Proven experience in manufacturing or supplying medical gowns or similar textile products, supported by at least one order/delivery note as proof of capacity.
• Ability to meet technical specifications, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
• Knowledge of relevant standards (SABS 1401) and sterilization requirements for surgical textiles.
• Capability to provide samples for evaluation and adhere to detailed technical specifications, including lettering, dimensions, and construction features.
• Compliance with procurement policies, including proper disclosure of interests and adherence to the Department’s administrative and legal requirements.
