Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure pest control services for a period of 10 months at Umgeni Hospital, ensuring effective eradication and control of pests throughout the hospital complex. The service aims to maintain a pest-free environment, guarantee treatments, and comply with safety and environmental standards.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of pest control treatments covering rodents, insects, and other pests across all hospital areas, including wards, kitchens, offices, storage, basement, and sewage systems.
• Application of approved pesticides, gels, sprays, fumigation, and baiting methods that are odourless and environmentally friendly.
• Guarantee of treatments with follow-up inspections and re-treatments as necessary within specified guarantee periods.
• Pre-treatment prerequisites such as area preparation, safety measures, and documentation of fumigation activities.
• Regular monthly service visits with prior notice, including the use of registered technicians and approved materials.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Guarantee each treatment for 10 months with subsequent inspections and treatments at no extra cost if re-infestation occurs.
• Use of pesticides registered under Act 36 of 1947, non-staining, safe, and compliant with safety data sheets (MSDS).
• Application of Maxiforce Gel integrated with surface spray in designated areas, including all hospital levels and relevant rooms.
• Technicians must be registered, neatly dressed, and possess current registration certificates.
• Application of fumigation, gel, and spray treatments in specified areas, including sewage systems, manholes, and hospital premises.
• Guarantee in writing for fumigated areas, with re-fumigation at the contractor’s cost if re-infestation occurs within guarantee periods.
• Adherence to safety protocols, including informing hospital staff prior to treatments and removing or covering foodstuffs and utensils.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires:

• Registered pest control technicians with current registration under Act 36 of 1947.
• Technicians must be neatly dressed with clear company identification.
• Knowledge of approved pesticides, application methods, and safety standards.
• Ability to prepare and complete fumigation worksheets, safety documentation, and service schedules.
• Capacity to respond promptly to re-infestation calls within 48 hours.
• Experience in hospital pest control, including fumigation, baiting, and integrated pest management techniques.
