Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure veterinary services from a SAVC-registered veterinary practice to support the Mossel Bay Municipality's K9 Unit. The services aim to ensure the health, safety, and operational readiness of nine Belgian Shepherd dogs through comprehensive veterinary care, including vaccinations, emergency treatments, surgeries, diagnostics, and routine health checks.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of veterinary health care for nine Belgian Shepherd dogs.
• Administering Kennel Cough vaccinations and other core vaccines.
• Referral and performing extensive soft tissue surgeries, including X-ray and laboratory services.
• Emergency and non-emergency veterinary treatments, including routine health checks and vaccinations.
• Providing laboratory diagnostics, imaging, and specialist surgical referrals as needed.
• Ensuring services are rendered within Mossel Bay, with travel outside the area at the provider's expense for emergencies.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that the veterinary practice must:

• Be registered with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC).
• Offer comprehensive veterinary services including vaccinations, soft tissue surgeries, diagnostics (X-ray, laboratory), and emergency care.
• Have the capacity to provide emergency services within two hours and routine services as scheduled.
• Possess facilities within Mossel Bay, including a kennel, laboratory, and surgical capabilities.
• Use the fastest transport methods for emergencies outside Mossel Bay.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in veterinary and healthcare services.
• Operational veterinary practice capable of providing emergency and routine care.
• Access to specialist surgeons for tissue surgeries and qualified veterinary physiotherapists for post-operative and injury care.
• Ability to deliver high-quality veterinary services adhering to safety and health standards.
• Availability of laboratory and diagnostic equipment, including X-ray machines.
