Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish a 24-month contract for pest control services around St Marys Marianhill Hospital. The service aims to eradicate and control pests such as rats, mice, cockroaches, bird lice, various ants, moth larvae, fish moths, bed bugs, and other crawling insects to ensure the hospital meets IPC (Infection Prevention and Control) protocols.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of pest control services to eliminate and manage pests within the hospital premises.
• Regular inspection and treatment of all designated areas, including free-standing buildings, sewage and storm water manholes, down pipes, water pipes, ducting, external walls, walkways, refrigerators, vending machines, skirting boards, fire hose reels, patient lockers, and waste water gullies.
• Maintenance and repair of electronic fly catchers in specified departments, including changing glue boards and replacing light bulbs.
• Monthly bait box checks and immediate re-service in case of re-infestation between scheduled visits, at no additional cost.
• Provision of tools, equipment, and protective gear necessary for the pest control activities.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with standards set by PCO (Pest Control Operator), SAPCA (South African Pest Control Association), and PCITA (Pest Control and Inspection Technicians Association).
• Use of SABS-approved materials and chemicals.
• Provision of proof of registration with SAPCA, PCITA, and relevant authorities.
• Adherence to safety protocols, including the use of safety data sheets for all chemicals used.
• Proper treatment of specified areas as per attached detailed specifications.
• Availability of own tools, equipment, and protective gear for the execution of services.
• Guarantee of work quality and timely completion of scheduled pest control activities.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Valid CIDB registration and grading for mechanical work (if applicable).
• Proven experience in pest control services within the last three years, supported by reference letters, completion certificates, or contracts.
• Qualified personnel, including registered pest control technicians with proof of registration (POC).
• Ability to perform inspections, treatments, and repairs as per technical standards.
• Capacity to provide immediate re-infestation services at no extra cost.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations and proper handling of chemicals.
