Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure an Electrocardiograph (ECG) machine for GJ Crookes Hospital, ensuring the equipment meets specified technical standards, quality, and operational requirements to support cardiac diagnostics within the healthcare facility.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, delivery, installation, demonstration, and commissioning of a twelve-channel portable ECG machine with mobile stand, including training and documentation. The procurement is a once-off purchase, with the equipment intended for adult and paediatric use across regional and tertiary hospital settings within KwaZulu-Natal.

Technical Requirements

• Device must be a twelve-channel portable ECG recorder with a thermal dot matrix printhead.
• Display: 8-inch high-resolution color screen capable of displaying text and graphics, including at least three ECG waveforms.
• Recording: Capable of recording 3, 6, and 12-lead ECGs with a 10-lead patient cable with banana plug connectors.
• Display size and type must be specified by bidder.
• Built-in internal memory for storing ECGs with capability to transmit data externally.
• Battery operated with specified type, capacity, and minimum operating time; operate off 220V AC and rechargeable battery.
• Selectable recording speeds: 5, 25, and 50 mm/sec.
• Features: Baseline drift compensation, heart rate display, manual and automatic modes, user-programmable ECG formats, and at least six preset ECG programs.
• Accessories: Reusable electrodes, patient and mains cables, training manuals, and optional accessories as per schedule.
• Compliance with IEC 60601-1 and 60601-1-2 electrical safety standards.
• Equipment must be CE certified and comply with S.A.N.S. wiring code.
• Guarantee: Minimum 24 months warranty with provisions for servicing and maintenance.
• Training: Full calibration, maintenance, and repair training for hospital technicians, including PCB level support.
• Service: Well-established local service and repair facilities in KwaZulu-Natal, with details of local agents and technicians.
• Manuals: Complete operation, maintenance, fault-finding, and circuit diagrams manuals in English.
• Optional accessories and software updates must be supported and included in the bid.

Skills Requirements

• Bidder must demonstrate technical capability to supply ECG machines compliant with detailed specifications.
• Provision of manufacturer-trained technicians for installation, demonstration, and training.
• Availability of local service technicians trained by the equipment manufacturer, with proof of training.
• Support for ongoing maintenance, calibration, and repairs, including spare parts supply for at least 10 years.
• Ability to provide comprehensive manuals, software, and optional accessories as specified.
• Capacity to deliver within the specified timeframe (not exceeding 4 weeks) and to provide after-hours support if required.
• Experience in servicing medical ECG equipment with proven quality standards and compliance with safety regulations.
