Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure the supply and delivery of high-speed drills, specifically a high-speed drill with a diamond ball head suitable for neurosurgical procedures. The aim is to ensure the hospital receives quality surgical tools that meet specified standards for effective surgical operations.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply and delivery of:

• 10 units of high-speed drills with specified specifications (diameter 4.0mm, length 13cm, metallic silver/steel, constructed of high-grade surgical steel).
• Additional surgical accessories designed for delivering sterile fluids directly to surgical drill sites, including single-use sterile accessories with specified dimensions and features.

The delivery is to be made to Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal, within the contract period, which is once-off. The procurement process includes evaluation based on technical compliance, price, and preference points.

Technical Requirements

• High-speed drill with diamond ball head, diameter 4.0mm, length 13cm.
• Constructed from high-grade surgical tool steel and alloy steel, coated with hard metals including coarse diamond.
• Sterile, single-use, and individually packaged.
• Accessories must deliver sterile fluids directly to the surgical site, with specifications including length (~3.6 meters), clear and transparent material, and compatibility with surgical procedures.
• Accessories should be made of medical-grade, flexible polymers, compliant with hospital regulations.
• All items must conform to the relevant standards and specifications outlined in the tender documentation.

Skills and Competency Requirements

• Bidder must demonstrate technical capability to supply surgical high-speed drills and accessories that meet specified standards.
• Provision of samples for evaluation, especially for the highest scoring bidders, to verify compliance with specifications.
• Ability to deliver the specified quantity within the stipulated timeframe and in accordance with quality standards.
• Compliance with procurement policies, including preference points system and mandatory documentation, such as valid licenses, tax clearance, and B-BBEE certificates where applicable.
• Experience in supplying medical surgical equipment and accessories, with proven track record and capacity to meet hospital standards.
• Understanding of hospital procurement procedures, including submission of accurate and complete documentation, adherence to technical specifications, and quality assurance processes.
