Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure surgical items required by St Andrews Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal, under the Department of Health. The aim is to acquire quality surgical equipment and consumables that meet specified standards, ensuring safe and effective medical procedures.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply and delivery of various surgical items listed in the annexure, including but not limited to:

• T pieces, pediatric tapes, spirometers, PEEP valves, extension sets, patella hammers, laryngoscope blades, rebreather masks, suction devices, tracheostomy sets, BP cuffs, conductive gels, tuning forks, hypodermic needles, and incentive spirometers.
• The items are intended for use in clinical procedures at St Andrews Hospital, Harding, KwaZulu-Natal.
• The contract is a once-off supply, with a validity period of 60 days from the date of advertisement.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the items include:

• Compliance with relevant standards and specifications (e.g., SANAS/SABS certifications).
• Items must be new, unused, and of the most recent models.
• Specific items such as laryngoscope blades must be fibre optic and compatible with battery-operated units.
• Equipment like tuning forks must be made of stainless steel, autoclaveable, and equivalent to specified product codes.
• Accessories such as carry cases should accommodate all components.
• Items must meet the detailed descriptions and quantities listed in the annexure.
• All items must conform to the relevant SANAS/SABS specifications and be supplied with proper documentation and certification.

Skills and Qualification Requirements

Suppliers must provide the following:

• Ownership certificates issued by the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC).
• BBBEE Certificates and Sworn Affidavits to demonstrate compliance with transformation goals.
• Certified identity copies of directors for points allocation related to specific goals.
• Medical certificates, SASSA disability cards, or verified assessments for disability-related points.
• Proof of compliance with the Central Supplier Database (CSD).
• Samples of the items for evaluation, where applicable.
• Technical brochures or pamphlets for the equipment supplied.
• Qualified personnel with experience in medical supply and knowledge of relevant standards.

Overall, bidders are expected to demonstrate their capacity to supply compliant, high-quality surgical items within the specified technical and qualification criteria, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and procurement policies.
