Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for post-service repairs to the walk-in freezer room and mortuary units at Umgeni Hospital. The aim is to ensure the proper functioning, maintenance, and repair of critical refrigeration and mortuary equipment to support hospital operations.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Post-service repairs to the walk-in freezer room, cold rooms, and mortuary units.
• Site inspections and technical assessments of existing equipment.
• Replacement of faulty components such as blower fans, drain heaters, and repair of gas leaks.
• Testing, commissioning, and ensuring units operate at required temperatures.
• Adherence to detailed specifications and standards provided in the tender documentation.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Removal and replacement of blower fans with specified wattage (e.g., 16W, 25W shaded pole blowers).
• Repair of cold room doors, including securing with drywall screws and fixing stainless steel covers.
• Leak detection and repair of gas piping systems, including re-gassing with R134A refrigerant and setting superheat.
• Replacement of drain heaters for freezer rooms.
• Service and repair of mortuary cabinets, including blower replacements and minor repairs to ensure operational efficiency.
• Compliance with attached detailed specifications and standards (e.g., SABS approved).
• Site visit and confirmation of damaged parts prior to repairs.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Artisan Mechanical trade test certification.
• Valid identification for artisans involved.
• Registration with the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB).
• Experience in refrigeration, cold room, and mortuary equipment repairs.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and standards.
• Capability to conduct leak detection, gas re-gassing, and component replacement.
• Proficiency in site assessment, troubleshooting, and commissioning of refrigeration and mortuary units.
