Objectives

Scope

The scope encompasses the provision of a wide range of surgical and medical items, including but not limited to surgical instruments, diagnostic devices, consumables, and hospital equipment as detailed in the item lists. The procurement covers items for use in surgical procedures, patient monitoring, diagnostic testing, and hospital support services, with delivery to Emmaus Hospital in accordance with specified requirements and standards.

Technical Requirements

• Items must conform to relevant standards such as SABS or ISO.
• Products should be sterile, disposable where applicable, and suitable for medical use.
• Items must meet detailed specifications including size, material, and functionality as outlined in the annexed specification forms.
• All products must be new, unused, and of the most recent models unless otherwise specified.
• Suppliers must provide samples if required and ensure products are compliant with safety, quality, and performance standards.
• Delivery must be timely, with specified delivery periods and proper packaging to prevent damage during transit.
• Items must be compatible with existing hospital equipment and meet all regulatory and safety requirements.

Skills and Competency Requirements

• Bidders must demonstrate compliance with procurement regulations, including proper disclosure of interests and adherence to the Public Service Act and Treasury Regulations.
• Suppliers should possess the necessary technical expertise and experience in supplying medical and surgical equipment.
• Bidder’s team must include qualified personnel capable of providing technical support, product training, and after-sales service.
• Applicants must have a valid registration on the Central Suppliers Database (CSD) and relevant certifications such as SAPHRA where applicable.
• Proven track record of delivering similar medical supplies within the stipulated timeframes and quality standards.
• Ability to provide comprehensive documentation, including detailed specifications, compliance certificates, and warranty information.
