Objectives

To procure a once-off supply of Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) lens fit sets for clinical diagnostics at McCord Provincial Eye Hospital, ensuring strict adherence to provincial health procurement policies, regulatory standards, and preferential scoring mechanisms.

Scope

The tender covers the supply of four (4) RGP lens fit sets. Delivery must be made to the hospital’s designated facility. The contract is classified as a once-off goods supply with a quotation validity period of 90 days. All supplied items must be brand new, unused, and possess a minimum shelf-life validity of six months upon delivery. Pricing must be firm, inclusive of Value Added Tax (where applicable), and fully cover transportation and delivery costs to the specified destination.

Technical Requirements

• Each fit set must contain a minimum of 18 trial lenses covering a broad parameter range.
• Base curves must span from 4.60mm to 9.00mm.
• Designs must encompass Toric, Symmetric, Asymmetric, and Aspheric configurations.
• Lenses must be suitable for standard keratoconus, advanced keratoconus, and post-graft applications.
• Products must comply with relevant SABS/SANS standards and hold a valid licence issued by the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) for medical device distribution.
• Bidders must submit either physical samples or a comprehensive brochure detailing technical specifications by the closing date.
• All administrative, compliance, and preference claim forms must be fully completed and submitted alongside the quotation.

Skills Requirements

This tender does not mandate specific personnel qualifications or technical service skills. However, suppliers must demonstrate operational capacity to manage regulated medical device logistics, maintain active Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration, and provide accurate regulatory documentation. No installation, clinical training, or extended maintenance services are required.
