The primary objective is to procure ten (10) compliant bar fridges for operational use at RK Khan Hospital under the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health. The procurement seeks to acquire cost-effective, energy-efficient appliances that meet national safety standards while advancing provincial economic development through targeted preferential procurement mechanisms.
All supplied units must strictly adhere to the following specifications:
No specialized technical or installation skills are mandated. Bidders must demonstrate administrative competence and full regulatory compliance, including:
80/20 Preference Point System: An evaluation framework where 80 points are allocated to price competitiveness and 20 points to specific socio-economic goals. Full points are granted to enterprises manufacturing or producing within KwaZulu-Natal province.
SANS Logo Requirement: Signifies that the appliance has been tested and certified against South African National Standards for electrical safety, performance, and durability. Items lacking this mark will be deemed non-compliant.
Prime Interest Rate Penalty: A financial deterrent applied to delayed deliveries. The purchaser will deduct a daily penalty calculated at the prevailing prime lending rate until goods are delivered or services rendered.
Anti-Cover-Quoting Provision: Strictly prohibits bidders from submitting multiple quotations under different company names to artificially influence pricing. Violation constitutes fraud and triggers immediate disqualification.
Warranty & Defect Liability: Suppliers warrant that goods are new, free from design, material, or workmanship defects, and suitable for normal use. The warranty period spans twelve months post-delivery or eighteen months post-shipment, whichever expires first. Defective items must be repaired or replaced at the supplier’s expense.
Termination & Restriction Penalties: The purchaser may terminate the contract for default, claim excess replacement costs, or impose a public sector trading ban of up to ten years for fraudulent, corrupt, or repeatedly non-performing suppliers.

Most large tenders are composed of tasks in a number of different fields, and it is not always possible for a single company to cater for all of them, and therefore Joint Ventures and Consortia are formed to then submit a tender together.
Government tenders are also requiring the subcontracting of a percentage of the tender work, and the trouble is then finding Subcontractors to comply with the tender requirements
To assist companies with finding tender partners and subcontractors, you can now submit your contact details and company information on this page, so other interested parties can contact you for purposes of forming Joint Ventures and subcontracting
