Objectives

The primary objective is to secure a qualified contractor to supply, install, test, and commission a fire detection system at the Ankerlig Power Station. The project aims to improve site safety, ensure compliance with national fire regulations, and support uninterrupted power generation operations.

Scope of Work

• Procurement and delivery of all fire detection hardware, control panels, sensors, and ancillary components suitable for industrial power station environments.
• Physical installation, system integration, functional testing, and commissioning.
• Provision of as-built documentation, operational handover, and initial staff familiarisation.
• All execution will take place at the Ankerlig Gas Turbine Power Station facility.

Technical Requirements

• CIDB Contractor Grading: Tenderers must hold a minimum Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) grading of 7SF or higher.
• Submission Compliance: Tenders must follow strict physical delivery protocols, including specific sealing, addressing, and timing requirements. Electronic submissions and late arrivals are explicitly rejected.
• Performance Standards: All equipment and installations must meet applicable South African fire safety codes and Eskom’s internal engineering specifications, which are fully detailed in the official tender documentation.

• Qualified Personnel: Access to certified fire protection engineers, licensed electricians, commissioning specialists, and project managers with relevant trade credentials and health & safety competencies.
• Operational Capability: Sufficient financial standing, plant/equipment availability, and management systems to execute complex infrastructure work without disrupting ongoing power station operations.

Clarification of Key Terms and Conditions

• CIDB 7SF Grading: A South African procurement classification indicating a contractor’s approved capacity for high-value fire protection works. It verifies financial stability, technical expertise, project management maturity, and historical performance in fire safety installations.
• Compulsory Clarification Meeting: A mandatory pre-bid session where the employer outlines technical expectations, site conditions, and evaluation criteria. Attendance is strongly advised to ensure bid compliance.
• Strict Submission Window: Tenders must be physically received by the published deadline. The employer does not accept emailed, post-dated, or incomplete submissions.
