Objectives

The primary objective is to repair and replace leaking or burst water pipes at Nogajuka Clinic to prevent water wastage and restore reliable water supply to the healthcare facility.

Scope of Work

• Cut off the municipal water supply to the steel elevated tank.
• Remove a 20-metre section of leaking or burst 50mm galvanized piping from joint to joint.
• Supply, install, and connect a new 20-metre 50mm galvanized water pipe with all necessary plumbing accessories (e.g., couplings).
• Conduct system testing and commissioning.
• Provide all labour, materials, tools, and competent personnel required for the maintenance project.
• Complete all works within two weeks of receiving the official order, ensuring minimal disruption to the clinic’s daily operations.

Technical Requirements

• All works must comply with SANS 1200 standards and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85, 1993).
• Bidders must notify the department two days prior to commencing any site activities.
• Completed works require formal inspection and handover to the Chief Artisan and Systems Manager.
• A minimum twelve-month guarantee covers all materials, equipment, and workmanship, effective only after successful commissioning and acceptance.
• Quoted prices must be firm, inclusive of VAT, transport, labour, and all applicable duties or taxes.
• Invoices must be accompanied by a work completion certificate, compliance certificates, and guarantee certificates.
• The Bill of Quantities (BOQ) is provided for guidance; listed quantities are non-binding, and bidders must independently verify all measurements and dimensions before quoting.

Skills and Qualification Requirements

• Valid Plumber Trade Test Certificate.
• Documentary proof of successfully completing a similar pipe replacement or plumbing project.
• All on-site tasks must be executed by skilled artisans under the direct supervision of a qualified contractor representative.
• Proof of operational capacity may be required if quoted prices fall below estimated market rates.
• Must be registered on the Central Suppliers Database (CSD) and hold a valid tax clearance status.
• Preference points are allocated based on enterprise ownership, with full points awarded to companies that are at least 51% black-owned.
