The primary objective is to procure and deliver essential surgical and medical consumables to Pholela Community Health Centre in KwaZulu-Natal. The aim is to maintain adequate inventory for clinical procedures, patient monitoring, and infection control, ensuring uninterrupted healthcare service delivery.
The tender covers the supply and delivery of ten specific medical items across varying quantities. These include haemoglobin test strips, intravenous cannulas, long stitch cutters, three-ply surgical masks, disposable vaginal speculums (large and medium), surgical blades, autoclaving indicator tape, adult ECG electrodes, emergency foil blankets, and assorted airway devices. All goods must be delivered directly to the specified health centre. The quotation validity period is ninety days, with delivery expected within the timeframe stated by the successful bidder.
All supplied goods must be new, unused, and compliant with relevant South African Bureau of Standards (SABS/SANS) specifications, particularly SABS/SANS 825 where indicated. Medical devices requiring sterility must remain sealed and sterile until use. Products must carry clear labeling indicating the product name, batch number, expiry date, and compliance marks. Expired or second-hand items are strictly prohibited, and all supplies must have a minimum shelf life of six months upon delivery. Detailed specifications apply per item, such as biocompatible materials for cannulas, ratchet-locking mechanisms for speculums, silver/silver chloride composition for ECG electrodes, and heat-sensitive chemical indicators for autoclaving tape. Certificates of compliance may be requested upon delivery.
Bidders must be formally registered on the Central Suppliers Database (CSD) and demonstrate active tax compliance through SARS verification. Suppliers must possess proven logistical capacity to deliver the full quantity within the agreed lead time, with no record of unexplained defaults. Quotations must be submitted using the prescribed official forms, including the Bidder’s Disclosure (SBD4) regarding conflicts of interest and the Preference Points Claim Form (SBD6.1). Pricing must be firm, all-inclusive of delivery costs, and valid for ninety days. The evaluation utilises an eighty-twenty preference point system, allocating twenty points specifically to enterprises that are at least fifty-one percent owned by Black Persons with Disabilities. Claimants must provide verifiable proof, such as CIPC ownership certificates or sworn affidavits. Bidders must adhere strictly to the provided specifications, sign all confirmation sections, and ensure complete documentation submission. Incomplete, late, or non-compliant quotations will be disqualified during the administrative compliance stage.

Most large tenders are composed of tasks in a number of different fields, and it is not always possible for a single company to cater for all of them, and therefore Joint Ventures and Consortia are formed to then submit a tender together.
Government tenders are also requiring the subcontracting of a percentage of the tender work, and the trouble is then finding Subcontractors to comply with the tender requirements
To assist companies with finding tender partners and subcontractors, you can now submit your contact details and company information on this page, so other interested parties can contact you for purposes of forming Joint Ventures and subcontracting
