Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage qualified service providers to construct and erect shacks of varying sizes (2-room and 3-room) on an as-and-when basis within specified local municipal areas. The project aims to support housing or shelter needs over a period of three years, ensuring timely and quality construction of temporary or permanent shacks in Dikgatlong, Magareng, and Phokwane local municipal areas.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Construction of two types of shacks:
  • 2-room shack with specified dimensions and features
  • 3-room shack with specified dimensions and features
• Manufacturing of shack frames from untreated wooden gum poles.
• Installation of windows and doors as specified, including windowpanes and Masonite doors with locks.
• Anchoring and cementing frames into the ground at a depth of 300mm.
• Provision of pricing for unit costs, including manufacturing, transportation, and erection.
• Construction to be carried out in multiple locations, with specific distances and travel considerations outlined.
• Provision of detailed methodology, work plan, and compliance with specifications.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the shacks are as follows:

2-Room Shack

• Floor area: 13.91 m² (2600mm x 5230mm x 2100mm)
• Frame: Manufactured from 75mm untreated wooden gum poles, anchored with cement at 300mm depth
• Roofing: 0.5mm corrugated roof sheeting
• Windows: Two (2) C8H window frames with panes
• Door: Masonite door with purlin frame (75mm x 75mm) and two-lever lock

3-Room Shack

• Floor area: 20.98 m² (combination of 1-room 2660mm x 2660mm and 2-room 2660mm x 5230mm)
• Frame: 75mm untreated wooden gum poles, secured with 125mm nails at joints, anchored at 300mm depth
• Roofing: 0.5mm corrugated roof sheeting
• Windows: Three (3) C8H window frames (two rear, one front) with panes
• Door: Masonite door with purlin frame and two-lever lock

General

• Frames must be anchored and cemented into the ground
• All construction must meet specified sizes and features
• Pricing must include manufacturing, transportation, and erection costs
• Construction must adhere to specified distances from Kimberley and other locations

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Relevant expertise and experience in constructing residential or temporary structures, specifically shacks or similar buildings
• Provision of a detailed methodology outlining the construction process
• Ability to produce a work plan with a schedule of activities and timeframes
• Capability to manufacture frames from untreated wooden gum poles and install roofing, windows, and doors as specified
• Compliance with technical specifications and quality standards
• Capacity to manage transportation and logistical arrangements for multiple locations
• Provision of references or proof of similar completed projects
