Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage a contractor for the comprehensive operations and maintenance of the Krantzfontein Landfill Site, including landfill management, recycling facility management, composting operations, and associated infrastructure. The aim is to ensure environmentally compliant, efficient, and sustainable waste management services at the site.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Preliminary and general fixed and time-related charges.
• Operational management of the landfill, including waste acceptance, cover material importation, road maintenance, leachate handling, and site audits.
• Management of recycling facilities and recyclers, including provision of protective clothing and facility maintenance.
• Fencing, building maintenance, and signage installation and upkeep.
• Operations of a composting facility, including waste sorting, shredding, compost production, environmental compliance, and site management.
• Provision of provisional sums for site preparation and stormwater drainage works.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Provision of plant, personnel, and equipment for landfill operations, including waste handling, cover material importation, road maintenance, and leachate transport and treatment.
• Implementation of environmental monitoring and compliance, including external audits and professional services.
• Management of recycling operations with safety gear and facility upkeep.
• Construction, maintenance, and replacement of fencing, signage, and site infrastructure such as weighbridges and SCADA systems.
• Design and operational management of a composting facility, including waste sorting, shredding, windrow management, and compost product handling.
• Provision of provisional sums for site preparation activities like clearing, gravel layering, and stormwater drainage.
