Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is the construction of gravel access roads in Kokshill and Macumeni, specifically for Ward 13. The project aims to develop durable gravel roads, including associated infrastructure such as drains, culverts, guardrails, signage, and related facilities, to improve access and transportation within the specified areas.

Scope

The scope of the tender encompasses a comprehensive range of construction activities, including:

• Site preparation, clearing, and grubbing
• Earthworks such as mass earthworks, cutting, filling, and compaction
• Construction of gravel pavement layers and sub-base
• Installation of drainage systems, including drains, culverts, and outlet structures
• Provision of guardrails, road signs, and safety features
• Construction of gabions and erosion protection measures
• Construction of associated structures such as concrete culverts and brick headwalls
• Provision of site facilities including offices, laboratories, and accommodation for personnel
• Traffic management and signage during construction
• Testing of materials and workmanship to ensure quality standards

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include adherence to specified standards and detailed procedures, such as:

• Use of approved materials, including gravel, concrete, steel reinforcement, and gabion fabric
• Compaction of earthworks to specified densities (e.g., 90% or 93% Mod AASHTO)
• Construction of drainage and culverts with precise dimensions and materials
• Installation of safety and traffic control devices in accordance with standards
