Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a brand new robotic auto-titrator instrument for analytical services within the Department of Agriculture & Rural Development. The instrument aims to enhance laboratory capabilities by providing automated, accurate, and efficient analysis of various parameters such as nitrate, total hardness, electrical conductivity, and other analytes, in accordance with international standards (ASTM, EPA, ISO). The project also includes installation, training, and a maintenance/repair service for a specified period.

Scope

The scope of the tender encompasses:

• Supply of a robotic auto-titrator instrument with all required peripherals and accessories.
• Delivery and installation of the instrument at the designated laboratory (Cedara).
• Provision of comprehensive training for end-users on operation and software.
• Provision of a guarantee and warranty covering parts, labour, and travel for at least 36 months.
• Post-installation maintenance and repair services for three years after the initial guarantee period.
• Provision of supporting hardware (e.g., desktop PC) and software compatible with the instrument.
• Adherence to technical specifications including sample handling, software features, detection ranges, and compliance with relevant standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the robotic auto-titrator include:

• Model with fully connected peripherals, autosampler capacity of approximately 100 x 50 ml tubes.
• Same make or brand for instrument, autosampler, and software.
• Software capable of sample list management, real-time analysis display, priority sample handling, and liquid handling functionalities.
• Effective rinsing mechanism to prevent contamination and ability to handle custom sample cups.
• Capability to perform at least 4 determinations per sample, with in-sample stirrer and temperature measurement/compensation.
• Detection ranges aligned with ASTM, EPA, ISO methods, with less than 1 ppm sensitivity where applicable.
• Supplied with required probes, reagent bottles, and sample tubes.
• Compatibility with desktop PC via USB, with support for software upgrades.
• Installation, commissioning, and user training included.
• Guarantee of 1 year with a guarantee response time within 8 hours.
• Proven performance to meet international analytical standards.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Technical expertise in the supply, installation, and commissioning of robotic titration instruments.
• Capability to provide ongoing maintenance and repair services through qualified service engineers based in South Africa, preferably within KwaZulu-Natal.
• Ability to deliver comprehensive user training on both hardware and software components.
• Experience with laboratory automation equipment, especially titration and sample handling systems.
• Proven track record of supplying equipment compliant with ASTM, EPA, ISO standards.
• Capacity to provide technical support, troubleshooting, and calibration services during the warranty and post-warranty periods.
• Compliance with all technical, safety, and quality standards specified in the tender documentation.
