Tender Summary

Objectives

The primary objective is to restore and maintain the structural integrity and functionality of Karl Bremer Hospital facilities through targeted roof rehabilitation and ongoing building upkeep. The project aims to eliminate water ingress, prevent further deterioration of building fabric, and ensure a safe, compliant environment for hospital operations.

Scope of Work

The scope covers two main components: comprehensive waterproofing of the TTC Support Service roof and general building maintenance across the hospital site. Activities include surface preparation, removal of defective materials, application of approved waterproofing systems, structural repairs, and routine maintenance interventions. All work must align with the quantities, methodologies, and quality standards outlined in the accompanying Bill of Quantities and technical specifications.

Technical Requirements

  • Minimum CIDB contractor grading of 2SN or higher.
  • Registered office and active workshop located within a 50-kilometre radius of Cape Town.
  • Full tax compliance with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) verified on the tender closing date.
  • Mandatory attendance at a compulsory site meeting; late arrival results in automatic disqualification.
  • Tenderers must print the complete tender package, including the Bill of Quantities and specifications, and present it at the site meeting.
  • All submissions must utilise official tender documentation, be correctly sealed, addressed, and physically delivered. Emailed or late tenders will be rejected.

Skills Requirements

Although not explicitly itemised, the project requires demonstrated competence in commercial roofing systems, waterproofing membrane installation, and general building maintenance. Contractors must possess qualified project management personnel capable of interpreting technical drawings, managing site logistics, and enforcing health and safety protocols. Artisans and supervisors should hold relevant trade certifications and prior experience working in healthcare or institutional environments. Financial and administrative capacity to procure materials, manage subcontractors, and comply with public sector reporting standards is also expected.

Key Terms & Definitions

Joint Ventures, Consortia and Subcontracting:

Most large tenders are composed of tasks in a number of different fields, and it is not always possible for a single company to cater for all of them, and therefore Joint Ventures and Consortia are formed to then submit a tender together.

Government tenders are also requiring the subcontracting of a percentage of the tender work, and the trouble is then finding Subcontractors to comply with the tender requirements

To assist companies with finding tender partners and subcontractors, you can now submit your contact details and company information on this page, so other interested parties can contact you for purposes of forming Joint Ventures and subcontracting

You will need to supply your details on every tender you are interested in tendering for. For this you need an active Business Listing - Register and Login at My Account to create a Business Listing

NOTE: This is not a tender application form, it is meant to facilitate the meeting of partners to form a Joint Venture or Subcontractor relationship for this tender only
