Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage a specialist consultant to develop an Energy Transition Strategy for Transnet Pipelines. The strategy aims to guide Transnet Pipelines through the energy transition, ensuring sustainable and efficient energy practices aligned with future industry standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Providing professional consulting services to develop a comprehensive Energy Transition Strategy.
• Conducting technical and economic analysis related to energy transition within the pipeline sector.
• Preparing an approach paper, which should not exceed 15 pages (note: this requirement has been removed as per Addendum 1).
• Facilitating virtual meetings, with an expectation of at least one face-to-face session per month if the team is based outside Durban, KZN.
• Including team members with relevant expertise, such as economists, analysts, and engineers with energy and pipeline engineering experience.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that the team must include:

• An economist or analyst with relevant qualifications and experience in energy economics or related fields.
• Engineers or technical specialists with background in pipeline engineering and energy sector technical analysis.
• Team members should have published articles or demonstrated expertise in energy transition or related topics.

The approach paper should be concise, well-structured, and demonstrate a clear methodology for developing the energy transition strategy.

Skills Requirements

The skills and experience sought include:

• Strong expertise in energy economics, energy transition, and pipeline engineering.
• Proven experience in developing energy transition strategies or similar projects.
• Ability to produce technical analysis and policy recommendations based on industry knowledge.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports and presentations.
• Experience in working with virtual collaboration tools, with flexibility for face-to-face meetings when necessary.
