Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to carry out the rehabilitation of Jim Payne Drive in Kokstad, Ward 07, as specified in the contract documentation. The project aims to improve the road infrastructure, ensure safety, and facilitate community participation, while adhering to environmental management and technical standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Environmental management and compliance monitoring
• Programming, reporting, and submission of schemes and reports
• Implementation of health and safety plans
• Dayworks involving personnel, construction equipment, and vehicles
• Relocation and protection of existing services
• Community participation and employment of students and security personnel
• Routine road maintenance, culvert and drain works, culvert installation, and concrete works
• Road clearing, grubbing, and topsoil conservation
• Loading, hauling, and disposal of materials
• Construction of pavement layers, stabilisation, and subbase layers
• Installation of segmental block paving, kerbing, and channeling
• Road signs, markings, and safety measures
• Finishing works including road surface treatment and signage
• Testing of materials and workmanship

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Environmental monitoring and reporting in line with the EMP
• Submission and review of construction programmes
• Implementation of health and safety plans and measures
• Use of specified construction equipment and vehicles with defined hours
• Relocation of existing services with specified costs and procedures
• Community engagement activities with associated costs
• Routine maintenance and culvert works as specified
• Proper excavation, backfilling, and disposal methods
• Construction of various road layers using conventional and stabilised materials
• Installation of kerbing, paving, and drainage structures according to standards
