Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to invite qualified contractors to execute the Water and Sanitation Phase 03 project at Khanyisa Secondary School in the Dalton region of eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal. The project aims to improve water and sanitation infrastructure, ensuring sustainable water supply and sanitation services in line with departmental standards and regulations.

Scope

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:

• Provision of water supply and sanitation infrastructure upgrades at Khanyisa Secondary School.
• Preparation of detailed design, specifications, and construction plans.
• Construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of water and sanitation systems.
• Provision of health and safety, environmental management, and quality assurance measures.
• Coordination with relevant stakeholders and compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Adherence to CIDB grading of 4GB or higher.
• Provision of detailed OHSE (Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental) plans.
• Submission of baseline risk assessments and safety management plans.
• Provision of imported materials and equipment schedules with applicable currency fluctuation adjustments.
• Compliance with specifications for electrical, mechanical, and safety systems.
• Provision of all necessary certificates, including CIDB registration, tax compliance, and proof of good standing with relevant authorities.
• Implementation of HIV/AIDS awareness and health safety measures as specified.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in executing water and sanitation infrastructure projects of similar scope and complexity.
• Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience for key personnel such as Construction Managers or Site Agents.
• Capability to manage health, safety, and environmental risks effectively.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
• Compliance with all legal, safety, and environmental standards as per South African legislation.
• Financial capacity to undertake the project, including proof of working capital of at least 5% of the project value.
• Capacity to provide all required documentation, including CIDB registration, tax compliance, and financial statements.
