Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a suitable contractor to complete the storm damage repair works at Mandeni Primary School under the Department of Education's Disaster Programme Phase 16 in the Ethekwini Region. The contractor is expected to execute the scope of work efficiently within the specified contract period, ensuring compliance with technical, safety, and environmental standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Completion of storm damage repairs at Mandeni Primary School as detailed in the tender documents and drawings.
• Provision of all materials, equipment, and labor necessary for the execution of the works.
• Adherence to the scope of works, specifications, and health and safety requirements outlined in the tender documentation.
• Coordination with relevant authorities and compliance with site safety and environmental standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with the Standard Conditions of Tender and the CIDB Grade 4GB or higher registration.
• Provision of detailed OHSE (Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental) plans and baseline risk assessments.
• Submission of a Construction Safety, Health and Environmental Declaration and a Safety, Health and Environmental Management Plan prior to commencement.
• Provision of detailed equipment schedules, including imported materials and equipment, with appropriate quotations and currency fluctuation adjustments.
• Completion of all mandatory and returnable documents, including site inspection certificates, financial declarations, and project experience.
• Adherence to specifications for HIV/AIDS awareness and safety standards as specified in the tender scope.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in storm damage repair projects, with at least two completed projects within the last five years, supported by certificates and references.
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience for the Construction Manager / Site Agent on projects of similar scope and complexity.
• Capability to mobilize and manage resources, including skilled labor, equipment, and materials, within the project timeframe.
• Financial capacity to sustain the project, evidenced by proof of working capital of at least 2.5% of the project value.
• Ability to comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including submission of OHSE plans and safety declarations.
• Knowledge of and compliance with the CIDB grading requirements and relevant legislation.
