Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to secure a service provider for the maintenance of gardens and grounds at the Midlands Regional Office for a period of 36 months. The goal is to ensure the grounds are kept in a clean, safe, and well-maintained condition, adhering to safety standards and environmental considerations.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Weekly grounds maintenance at the Midlands Regional Office located at No. 40 Shepstone Road, Ladysmith, 3370.
• Activities such as grass cutting, trimming of trees and shrubs, removal of rubbish and debris, soil insecticide application on paving, and sweeping of pathways and driveways.
• Specific maintenance tasks include cutting and trimming grass, cleaning flower beds, trimming trees and shrubs, removing vegetation and debris, soil insecticide application, and sweeping of paved surfaces.
• Maintenance must be performed once a week over the 36-month contract period.
• Adherence to safety standards as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Provision of grounds maintenance services on a weekly basis, with work scheduled on one working day from 07:00 to 15:30.
• Staff must sign attendance registers; tea and lunch breaks are scheduled from 10:00 to 10:15 and 12:30 to 13:00 respectively.
• Use of appropriate equipment and materials, including plastic refuse bags for debris removal and approved weed killers for vegetation control.
• Compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations during all maintenance activities.
• Proper disposal of all debris, rubbish, and vegetation after each maintenance session.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Experience in grounds maintenance and landscaping services.
• Qualified and trained personnel capable of performing tasks such as mowing, trimming, pruning, debris removal, and pest control.
• Knowledge of safety standards and environmental best practices.
• Ability to adhere to scheduled maintenance times and quality standards.
• Capacity to supply necessary equipment, tools, and materials required for the scope of work.
