Objectives

The primary objective of the tender is to construct and upgrade the water supply and bulk water reticulation systems for multiple villages, including Ngulumbi, Ngwenani Themeli, Ngovhela, Madamalala, Phindula, Maembeni, and Muledzhi. The project aims to establish reliable water infrastructure, including pipelines, reservoirs, pump stations, and associated civil and mechanical works, to improve water access and service delivery in the area.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Construction of bulk water pipelines (primarily 200mm diameter uPVC pipes) and associated fittings.
• Installation of reservoirs, including concrete and steel tanks, with associated inlet, outlet, overflow, and scour facilities.
• Provision of pump stations, valve chambers, and associated pipework.
• Civil works such as trenching, bedding, backfilling, and foundation preparation.
• Construction of access roads, manholes, ventilation, and inspection chambers.
• Installation of pipeline accessories, including gate valves, air valves, and scour valves.
• Provision of ancillary structures such as fencing, signage, and support brackets.
• Implementation of environmental, safety, and quality standards as per specifications.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Adherence to specified standards such as SABS 1200 series, SANS 1123, and other relevant specifications.
• Use of approved materials, including galvanized steel, uPVC, HDPE, and concrete, with proper corrosion protection and lining.
• Proper installation of pipelines with correct bedding, jointing, and testing procedures.
• Construction of reservoirs and structures with specified concrete grades and reinforcement details.
• Implementation of pipeline fittings, valves, and accessories with correct dimensions, alignment, and sealing.
• Provision of adequate support, anchoring, and protection for all pipeline components.
• Compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality management standards.
• Preparation of detailed drawings, calculations, and documentation for approval prior to construction.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to demonstrate:

• Proven experience in large-scale water infrastructure projects, including pipelines, reservoirs, and pump stations.
• Registration with the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) with a minimum grading of 7CE or higher.
• Technical expertise in civil, mechanical, and electrical installation works related to water reticulation.
• Capability to produce detailed design calculations, drawings, and documentation compliant with standards.
• Qualified personnel, including engineers, project managers, site supervisors, and safety officers, with relevant certifications and experience.
• Demonstrated capacity to manage environmental, safety, and quality requirements effectively.
• Ability to coordinate with authorities, obtain permits, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Provision of references and evidence of successful completion of similar projects within the past ten years.
