Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a service provider to conduct professional occupational medical examinations for all ERWAT employees, including management, over a period of 36 months. The aim is to enhance service delivery, ensure employee health and safety, and facilitate timely medical assessments to support ERWAT’s core functions.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Conducting occupational medical examinations for all ERWAT employees, including executive medicals, driver’s medicals, baseline/pre-employment, periodic, transfer, and exit medicals.
• Providing both Category 1 (employee medicals) and Category 2 (executive medicals) assessments, with specified tests and assessments such as X-rays, medical history, vision screening, drug tests, ECG, lifestyle questionnaires, and more.
• Carrying out examinations at designated sites using mobile clinics and at the service provider’s facilities for executive medicals.
• Reporting on health risks, trends, and providing Certificates of Fitness within reasonable timeframes.
• Maintaining equipment, calibration, and safeguarding employee information.

Technical Requirements

The technical scope includes:

• Provision of fully equipped mobile clinics for Category 1 assessments.
• Availability of experienced medical personnel registered with relevant bodies (e.g., HPCSA, SASOM, SASOHN, SANC).
• Carrying out comprehensive assessments as per scope, including medical history, tests, questionnaires, and certifications.
• Provision of detailed electronic reports with identified health risks, trends, and recommendations.
• Calibration and maintenance of medical equipment, with certificates available for inspection.
• Adherence to occupational health and safety legislation and confidentiality requirements.
• Provision of at least one fully equipped mobile clinic for Category 1 assessments; executive assessments to be conducted at the provider’s facilities.

Skills Requirements

The service provider must demonstrate:

• Knowledge and understanding of occupational health standards and practices.
• Registration with relevant professional bodies such as HPCSA, SASOM, SASOHN, or SANC.
• Experience in conducting occupational medical examinations, including specialized assessments like ECG, drug testing, and lifestyle evaluations.
• Qualified medical personnel, including nurses, medical practitioners, and biokineticists, with proof of registration and experience.
• Ability to operate and calibrate medical equipment properly.
• Systems to safeguard employee data and ensure confidentiality.
• Capacity to provide timely and comprehensive reports in electronic format.
• Availability of mobile clinics and facilities to conduct assessments at designated sites.
