Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a capable auctioneer to conduct the auction sale of twelve (12) motor vehicles owned by the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure, Midlands Region– Ladysmith. The auctioneer is responsible for organizing, advertising, and executing the auction process, including inspecting the vehicles, communicating with the department, and ensuring proper sale procedures are followed.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Conducting the auction of twelve (12) departmental motor vehicles located at No. 40 Shepstone Road, Ladysmith.
• Communicating the auction date to the department prior to advertisement.
• Inspecting the vehicles and providing a report on their condition and recommendations for unsold assets.
• Advertising the auction and submitting proof of advertising to the department.
• Handling the sale process, including collecting deposits and ensuring proper transfer of ownership.
• Ensuring no additional charges are levied against the department beyond the agreed commission.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• The auctioneer must be a registered member of the South African Institute of Auctioneers (SAIA) and provide valid proof of registration.
• The auction date must be communicated and agreed upon with the department before advertising.
• Proper inspection of vehicles must be conducted, and a report submitted detailing the condition and recommendations.
• Proof of all advertising must be submitted to the department.
• The auction process must be transparent, and no additional charges (other than commission) are permitted.

Skills Requirements

The successful service provider must possess:

• Registered auctioneer status with the South African Institute of Auctioneers (SAIA).
• Experience in conducting vehicle auctions, preferably with a track record in public sector or similar auctions.
• Ability to inspect and assess vehicle conditions accurately.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with the department and potential buyers.
• Proven capability to advertise and manage auction logistics efficiently.
