Objectives

The primary objective is to appoint a qualified service provider to conduct quarterly inspections, load testing, and certification of all lifting and rigging equipment at uShaka Marine World. This initiative ensures ongoing operational safety, regulatory compliance, and maintenance readiness across all facility zones.

Scope of Work

The successful provider will perform routine quarterly inspections and load tests on a comprehensive inventory of lifting gear spanning multiple locations, including stores, plant rooms, workshop tunnels, and marine encounter zones. The equipment encompasses:

• Nylon and endless round slings, lifting beams, spreaders, and crawler beams
• Hoists, chain lever hoists, and electrical service hoists
• Stainless steel thimble eyes, eye bolts, and D-shackles
• Lifting lugs, I-beams, pulleys, traverse ropes, and specialized shark cage lifting systems

The provider must issue detailed inspection reports identifying defects or required repairs and supply official certification confirming compliance with statutory standards.

Technical Requirements

• Registration on the Central Supplier Database (CSD) and eThekwini Supplier Portal
• Valid Tax Compliance Status (TCS) PIN or CSD number
• Submission of mandatory municipal bidding forms: MBD4 (Declaration of Interest), MBD6.1 (Preference Points Claim), MBD8 (Past SCM Practices), and MBD9 (Independent Bid Determination)
• Proof of previous similar work via a signed completion certificate
• Quotations must be submitted in sealed, numbered envelopes by the stipulated deadline; late or improperly formatted bids will be rejected
• Evaluation utilizes an 80/20 preference point system (80 points for price, 20 points for specific socio-economic goals)
• Successful bidder must execute a formal written contract (MBD7)
