Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to repair and restore the existing 5-a-side football pitch at the Du Noon Sport Complex. The project aims to replace degraded playing surfaces with a durable, high-performance synthetic turf system, ensuring compliance with municipal sports facility standards and providing a safe, reliable environment for community football activities.

Scope of Work

The scope covers the complete rehabilitation of the designated 5-a-side soccer pitch. Detailed specifications are contained within the official tender package, but the core deliverables include:

• Removal and disposal of the existing damaged turf and compromised base layers.
• Sub-grade preparation, including excavation, leveling, compaction, and drainage optimization.
• Supply and precision installation of Astor Turf synthetic grass configured for 5-a-side football.
• Application of appropriate infill materials, mechanical brushing, and secure edging/seaming.
• Precision line marking, goal post installation, and perimeter fencing adjustments as required.
• Final quality testing, site clearance, and formal handover of the completed pitch.

Technical Requirements

• Contractor Grading: Tenderers must possess a minimum CIDB contractor grading of 1GB or higher.
• Mandatory Clarification Meeting: All bidders must attend the compulsory session on 29 October 2026 at 12h00 at the Du Noon Sport Complex.
• Submission Protocol: Tenders must be compiled exclusively on the official municipal documentation, correctly sealed, addressed, and physically delivered before 09h00 on 5 November 2026. Late tenders will be automatically rejected.
• Compliance Standards: Works must adhere to municipal construction specifications, environmental waste disposal regulations, and national occupational health and safety legislation.

Skills Requirements

Bidders must demonstrate the following competencies and resource capabilities:

• Documented experience in sports infrastructure maintenance and synthetic turf installation projects.
• Skilled trades personnel certified or experienced in civil base preparation, turf stretching, seaming, and infill application.
• Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, managing dimensional tolerances, and executing accurate field markings.
• Project management capacity to coordinate labor, equipment, and material logistics while maintaining strict quality assurance and site safety protocols.

Astor Turf: A commercial brand of synthetic grass engineered specifically for sports surfaces. Installation requires specialized techniques, including tensioning, thermal welding, precise infill distribution, and brushing to achieve consistent ball behavior, shock absorption, and player traction.

5-a-Side: A standardized small-sided football format played on a reduced rectangular pitch. The configuration demands exact dimensional accuracy for touchlines, penalty areas, and goal dimensions, along with proportionally scaled equipment and surface uniformity.
