Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a reliable supplier for the supply and delivery of network equipment over a period of 36 months to support the expanding enterprise network infrastructure of eThekwini Municipality. The goal is to ensure continuous, high-quality network connectivity across over 500 sites, with equipment that meets current technical standards and supports future scalability.

Scope

The scope includes the procurement of various network devices such as switches, access points, transceivers, and related accessories as detailed in the Bill of Quantities. The equipment must be brand new, sourced through authorized channels, and include a three-year warranty. The equipment should be compatible with existing infrastructure, support interoperability, and meet specified technical specifications. The procurement is on an as-needed basis, with estimated quantities provided for reference, but actual quantities may vary according to operational requirements.

Technical Requirements

• Supply of brand new, authorized equipment including switches, access points, transceivers, and related components.
• Equipment must include a minimum 3-year warranty covering hardware and software updates.
• Equipment must be compatible with existing Cisco and Huawei network infrastructure, supporting MPLS backbone, campus, and data center environments.
• Provision of equivalent products must demonstrate full compliance with specified features, interoperability, and performance standards, supported by datasheets and reference sites.
• All equipment sourced through official channels; refurbished or grey market equipment will not be accepted.
• Additional equipment or solutions proposed must include a supplier mark-up percentage, clearly specified.
• Equipment delivery must adhere to specified timelines, with provisions for end-of-life replacements and technical support.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in supply and delivery of enterprise network equipment.
• Ability to demonstrate compliance with technical specifications through datasheets and reference sites.
• Capability to provide technical support, installation, and configuration services.
• Knowledge of interoperability standards and existing network infrastructure (Cisco, Huawei).
• Capacity to supply equipment with a comprehensive warranty and support services.
• Registered on the National Treasury Central Supplier Database and the eThekwini Municipality’s vendor database.
• Ability to provide detailed technical documentation and support for equivalent product proposals.
