Objectives

The primary objective of the tender is to undertake the widening of Citrus Lane in Durban North (Ward 36), including associated site clearance, earthworks, roadworks, stormwater management, retaining walls, and ancillary roadworks. The project aims to improve road infrastructure, ensure proper drainage, and enhance traffic accommodation and safety within the specified area.

Scope

The scope encompasses the following key activities:

• Preliminary and general requirements, including environmental management, programming, health and safety, stakeholder management, site security, and community liaison.
• Site clearance involving clearing, grubbing, and removal of existing structures and stormwater pipes.
• Services such as trenching, relocation of existing water, electric, sewer, and private services.
• Earthworks including excavation, spoil removal, filling, and existing road material handling.
• Roadworks comprising kerbing, channeling, commercial materials, roadbed construction, pavement layers, and asphalt laying.
• Stormwater infrastructure including drains, culverts, and ground improvement measures.
• Construction of retaining walls, gabions, segmented block walls, and associated drainage.
• Ancillary works such as road restraint systems, signage, road markings, landscaping, and finishing of the road and road reserve.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with environmental management plans and reporting.
• Implementation of health and safety plans and site security measures.
• Proper handling and relocation of existing services with specified protection and protection works.
• Execution of earthworks with specified excavation, spoil management, and compaction standards.
• Construction of road infrastructure with specified materials, dimensions, and compaction levels.
• Installation of stormwater drainage systems, culverts, and ground improvement techniques as per drawings and specifications.
• Construction of retaining structures with specified geotextiles, gabions, and concrete elements.
• Provision of signage, road markings, and landscaping in accordance with standards.

Skills Requirements
