Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish a two-year contract for the maintenance and servicing of transformers at Doe Mt Frere and Maluti College Cluster Offices. The contract aims to ensure reliable transformer operation, safety, and compliance with relevant health and safety standards, thereby minimizing downtime and preventing electrical failures or hazards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Inspection and servicing of pole-mounted and ground-mounted transformers.
• Testing, repairs, and maintenance of transformers and associated equipment.
• Provision of emergency call-out services within the contract period.
• Replacement of faulty equipment or parts, including procurement and installation.
• Provision of provisional sums for unforeseen repairs or replacements.
• Transport and logistical arrangements for maintenance activities.
• Adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations during all activities.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• The contractor must have a CIDB grading of 2EP / 2EB PE or higher.
• All work must comply with the NEC3 Term Service Contract (April 2013).
• The contractor must provide qualified personnel with experience in transformer maintenance.
• Inspection, testing, and servicing must follow the standards set out in the bid documents and relevant SANS standards.
• All repairs and replacements must be documented with detailed reports and proof of compliance.
• Health and safety protocols must be strictly followed, including hazard assessments, PPE, signage, and emergency procedures.
• All work must be coordinated to minimize disruption to the client’s operations.
• Proper documentation, including service reports, safety data sheets, and compliance certificates, must be maintained and submitted.
