Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to construct the Bombo/Longkloof Access Roads in Ward 15 for the uMzimkhulu Local Municipality. The project aims to improve infrastructure, facilitate transportation, and ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and community requirements.

Scope

The scope of the project includes:

• Community liaison and stakeholder engagement
• Compliance with environmental management plans and occupational health and safety regulations
• Site establishment and general obligations
• Provision of housing, offices, and laboratories for engineer personnel
• Traffic accommodation and management, including temporary deviations and signage
• Clearing, grubbing, and earthworks for road construction
• Construction of drains, culverts, and gabions
• Pavement layers using gravel and concrete
• Installation of guardrails, road signs, and safety features
• Overhaul and rehabilitation of existing roads and structures
• Testing, inspections, and quality assurance

The project covers specific sections such as earthworks, pavement layers, drainage, structures, and ancillary works within the designated road lengths and widths.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Adherence to specified quantities, dimensions, and materials for earthworks, concrete, gabions, and other structures
• Use of approved materials such as gravel, concrete, steel reinforcement, gabions, and filter fabric
• Implementation of traffic management measures including signage, flagmen, and safety equipment
• Compliance with environmental and safety management plans
• Construction of structures like culverts, manholes, and headwalls as per drawings and specifications
• Proper installation and testing of pavement layers, joints, and reinforcement
• Provision for contingencies, penalties, and provisional sums for unforeseen works
