Description: The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) was disestablished in June 2019. It is responsible for overseeing and supporting South Africa’s agricultural sector, as well as ensuring access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food by the country’s population. The agriculture function was incorporated into the new Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD), while the forestry and fisheries functions were incorporated into the new Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF). Information displayed here is historical information as it existed before the mergers. The department fell under the responsibility of the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
