Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish a 12-month contract for the supply and delivery of sanitary pads specifically for maternity use at Eshowe Hospital. The contract aims to ensure a consistent and reliable supply of 4000 packets of sanitary pads over the specified period, meeting hospital standards for quality, safety, and hygiene.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of sanitary pads for a 12-month period, with a total quantity of 4000 packets.
• Supply and delivery of the sanitary pads to Eshowe Hospital’s Central Supply Chain Management unit.
• Quarterly staggered deliveries of 1000 packets each, adhering to specified standards and specifications.
• Compliance with technical and safety standards as outlined in the specifications.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the sanitary pads include:

• Product Type: Post-maternity sanitary towels without wings.
• Size: Extra-large, approximately 300mm x 100mm.
• Material: Soft, unlo ped, non-woven covering with a highly absorbent cellulose core and a soft barrier shield to prevent leakage.
• Absorbency: Designed for maximum fluid retention suitable for heavy postpartum bleeding (lochia).
• Standards Compliance: Must meet SANAS/SABS standards, including SANS 1043 and ISO 13485 manufacturing requirements.
• Skin Compatibility: Hypoallergenic, breathable, dermatologist tested, and latex-free.
• Packaging: Primary packaging of sealed packets containing 12 units; bulk packaging in bales of 36 packets.
• Shelf Life: Minimum of 12 to 24 months.
