Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to secure a service provider for a 12-month pest control contract covering all Primary Health Care (PHC) clinics under Vryheid Hospital. The aim is to ensure effective pest eradication and control across multiple clinics within the specified period, maintaining hygiene and health standards.

Scope

The scope includes providing pest control services for 19 clinics in the Vryheid district, covering interior and exterior areas such as clinic buildings, outbuildings, sewer and storm water manholes, waste gullies, and surrounding structures. The contract encompasses routine pest eradication, re-infestation management, and installation of bait stations, with specific attention to various pests excluding termites and bees unless separately quoted.

• Control of pests including rats, mice, cockroaches, bird lice, ants (excluding termites), moth larvae, and fish moths.
• Services to be carried out during normal working hours, with provisions for after-hours work in exceptional cases.
• Provision of pest control chemicals registered and approved by relevant authorities.
• Adherence to safety, chemical handling, and environmental regulations.
• Installation of bait stations at specified locations.

Technical Requirements

• Provision of proof of registration with the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
• Use of chemicals compliant with SANS codes of practice and approved by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
• Application of chemicals in accordance with manufacturer instructions, ensuring safety and minimal hazard.
• Proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals, with safety data sheets submitted with the quotation.
• Site inspections and signing of service schedules upon completion of each visit.
• Installation of bait stations and treatment of all specified areas, including sewer and storm water systems.
• Adherence to health and safety standards, including use of protective clothing and uniforms with company branding.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified pest control technicians with registration and certification from relevant authorities.
• Experience in pest management within healthcare or similar environments.
• Knowledge of pest control chemicals, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
• Ability to conduct site inspections, prepare reports, and complete service schedules accurately.
• Effective communication skills for reporting and coordination with hospital staff and maintenance teams.
• Capacity to respond promptly to callouts and re-infestation issues, including after-hours services.
