Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a 3 Piece Foldable Lenses set in different sizes for use in eye surgeries at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital. The procurement aims to ensure the availability of sterile, well-packed lenses that meet specified standards for medical use, supporting effective eye operations.

Scope

The scope covers the supply of three-piece foldable lenses in various sizes (22D, 22.5D, 23D, 24D, 24.5D, and 23.0D, 24.0D, 24.5D as per specifications). The procurement includes providing samples, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, and delivering the lenses to the designated hospital site within the specified contract period. The scope also encompasses adherence to quality standards, packaging, and delivery requirements as outlined in the specifications and tender documents.

Technical Requirements

• Item Description: 3 Piece Foldable Lenses of different sizes (e.g., 22D, 22.5D, 23D, 24D, 24.5D, 23.0D, 24.0D, 24.5D)
• Size Specifications:
  • 22D, 22.5D, 23D, 24D, 24.5D, 23.0D, 24.0D, 24.5D
• Sterility must be guaranteed; lenses must be soaked in saline solution.
• Packaging: Well packed in glass containers, with manufacturing and expiry dates clearly indicated.
• Material: Transparent, high-quality medical-grade material conforming to SABS standards.
• Quantity: Refer to attached quotation details (e.g., 60 units per size).
• Samples: Two samples of each size to be submitted on the closing date.
• Compliance with SABS standards and specifications specified in annexures and specification forms.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in manufacturing or supplying medical lenses, specifically foldable intraocular lenses.
• Ability to produce lenses that meet international and South African standards (SABS).
• Capability to provide samples that conform to technical specifications and quality standards.
• Knowledge of sterilization procedures and packaging suitable for surgical instruments.
• Compliance with regulatory requirements from the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA).
• Technical expertise in ensuring product sterility, packaging, and labeling for medical use.
