Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for the repair and maintenance work at 35 Squadron, Erica Drive Airwing. The scope includes repairing leaking roofs (concrete and metal), addressing ceiling damage, painting affected walls in specified rooms and areas, and replacing missing roof sheets at the hanger. The aim is to restore the structural integrity and aesthetic condition of the facilities.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Repair of leaking concrete and metal roofs in designated rooms and areas.
• Ceiling repairs and painting of walls in rooms 5131, 5141, 5127, 5128, and the first-floor passage at the hanger.
• Replacement of missing roof sheets at the hanger.
• Cleaning gutters, drain outlets, and downpipes.
• Implementation of waterproofing measures on flat roofs.
• Provision of necessary scaffolding, high-rise equipment, and safety measures.
• Site inspection, preparation, and post-repair cleanup.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Proper removal of existing damaged materials without causing structural damage.
• Application of waterproofing membranes (torch-on bituminous membranes) and protective coatings.
• Repair and replacement of damaged roof sheets and flashing with approved waterproofing systems.
• Painting of internal walls with suitable interior-grade PVA paint, matching existing finishes.
• Ceiling repairs to suspended or rhino board ceilings to match existing conditions.
• Compliance with relevant standards such as SABS specifications for paint and waterproofing.
• Adherence to occupational health and safety standards, including site safety plans and use of appropriate equipment.
• Provision of warranties for repairs, typically 12 months for workmanship and materials.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tenderer must possess:

• Qualified and experienced personnel in roofing, waterproofing, ceiling repair, and painting.
• Skilled tradespeople familiar with SABS standards and waterproofing systems.
• Health and safety officers or personnel capable of implementing and monitoring safety protocols on-site.
• Capability to operate high-rise equipment such as scaffolding, cherry pickers, and hoists safely.
• Experience in executing similar repair projects in government or military facilities.
• Ability to prepare and submit detailed work plans, safety plans, and quality assurance documentation.
• Knowledge of environmental and waste management practices, including site cleanup and waste removal.
