Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a 5 Piece Laryngoscope Set Fiber Optic with Handle that meets specified technical standards, complies with relevant regulations, and ensures quality, safety, and functionality for medical use within Ngwelezane Hospital. The procurement aims to enhance airway management capabilities, ensure compatibility with existing equipment, and support clinical procedures with reliable and certified devices.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of the specified laryngoscope set, including all necessary accessories, optional components, training, and support services. It covers technical evaluation, compliance with specifications, warranty, maintenance, and optional upgrades, ensuring the equipment is suitable for adult applications and adheres to national standards.

Technical Requirements

• The set must include a fiber optic light source integrated into the blade, suitable for adult applications.
• Components must comprise an adult battery handle, three sizes of stainless steel curved blades (sizes 2, 3, 4), and a durable storage case.
• The handle must be manufactured from stainless steel, powered by two size C alkaline batteries, with the lamp housed within.
• The blades must be stainless steel, conforming to ISO standards, interchangeable with other leading manufacturers, and supplied in specified sizes.
• The equipment must comply with IEC 60601-1 and 60601-1-2 standards, be CE certified, and meet hospital-grade electrical safety requirements.
• All accessories, manuals, software, and spare parts must be supplied with the equipment, including training and support.
• The set must be supported by a minimum 24-month warranty, with provisions for maintenance, repairs, and optional upgrades.
• Additional optional accessories and components should be quoted separately, with clear pricing and compatibility details.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified technical personnel with manufacturer-certified training in the maintenance, calibration, and repair of the specific laryngoscope model.
• Technicians must be available within 24 hours for service and repairs, with a well-established service facility in KwaZulu-Natal.
• Bidder must demonstrate capacity to provide comprehensive training to hospital staff on device operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to supply detailed manuals, software, and spare parts for the entire lifecycle of the equipment.
• Experience in supplying medical devices compliant with national and international standards, with proven evaluation or clinical assessment within government institutions preferred.
