The primary objective of this tender is to procure compliant adaptor catheter plugs for clinical use at Greys Hospital. The procurement seeks qualified suppliers capable of delivering high-quality medical accessories efficiently while adhering to KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health supply chain protocols, regulatory standards, and preferential procurement frameworks.
The scope encompasses the supply of twenty (20) units of large adaptor catheter plugs. Deliveries must be made directly to Greys Hospital in Pietermaritzburg. This is a standard goods quotation valued below the R1,000,000 threshold, with a quotation validity period of ninety (90) days. Successful bidders will be contracted to provide new, unused products that fully meet clinical specifications and provincial health procurement requirements.
No specialised technical or labour skills are explicitly required. Suppliers must demonstrate standard commercial and logistical competencies, including inventory control, timely delivery, regulatory compliance, and accurate completion of public sector procurement documentation. Proficiency in maintaining active Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration and SARS tax clearance status is essential for qualification.
SAHPRA Licensing: A mandatory regulatory requirement ensuring that all medical device suppliers are legally authorised by South Africa’s health regulator to handle, distribute, or manufacture clinical equipment.
80/20 Preference Point System: An evaluation model allocating eighty points to competitive pricing and twenty points to socio-economic goals. Full points are awarded to enterprises at least fifty-one percent owned by Black People, supported by a BBBEE verification certificate or sworn affidavit.
Four-Stage Evaluation Process: A strict compliance framework where quotations are filtered through administrative checks, specification compliance, sample verification, and final scoring. Failure at any stage results in automatic disqualification without further consideration.
Delay Penalties & Restriction Clauses: Late deliveries incur financial penalties calculated at the prevailing prime interest rate per day. The purchaser retains the right to terminate contracts for default and impose restriction penalties that may prohibit non-compliant suppliers from engaging with the public sector for up to ten years.
CSD & Tax Compliance Verification: Mandatory digital validation through the National Treasury’s Central Suppliers Database and SARS. Suppliers with inactive or non-compliant tax statuses will be rejected regardless of pricing or technical merit.

Most large tenders are composed of tasks in a number of different fields, and it is not always possible for a single company to cater for all of them, and therefore Joint Ventures and Consortia are formed to then submit a tender together.
Government tenders are also requiring the subcontracting of a percentage of the tender work, and the trouble is then finding Subcontractors to comply with the tender requirements
To assist companies with finding tender partners and subcontractors, you can now submit your contact details and company information on this page, so other interested parties can contact you for purposes of forming Joint Ventures and subcontracting
