Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure after-service repairs to sewer lines, storm water systems, and gullies at Victoria Mxenge Hospital. The aim is to ensure proper maintenance, unblockages, and repairs to prevent future blockages and system failures, thereby maintaining the hospital’s sanitation infrastructure in optimal condition.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Complete execution of repairs to sewer lines, storm water systems, and gullies as specified in the technical and project specifications.
• Unblocking, cleaning, and jetting of sewer and storm water lines.
• Replacement of broken manhole covers, damaged pipes, and other defective components.
• Vegetation removal and clearing of blockages within chambers and pipes.
• Repair or replacement of damaged manholes and pipes, including underground and surface components.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards during execution.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Provision of qualified artisans, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers for the execution of tasks.
• Use of approved and specified equipment and materials, compliant with SABS standards.
• Unblocking and cleaning of specified manholes, pipes, and storm water channels, including high-pressure jetting where necessary.
• Replacement of broken or missing manhole covers and damaged pipes.
• Vegetation removal and clearing of blockages caused by roots and organic matter.
• Compliance with all relevant South African standards, electrical and safety regulations, including obtaining necessary certificates of compliance (COC) for electrical work.
• Completion of all work within the contract period of 3 weeks, with a guarantee period of at least 1 year for all materials and work performed.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Qualified personnel with relevant certifications and experience in sewer and storm water system repairs.
• Proven ability to operate high-pressure jetting equipment and other specialized tools.
• Capability to undertake excavation, pipe replacement, and vegetation clearance safely and efficiently.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including the ability to produce and implement safety plans and risk assessments.
• Experience in working within hospital environments and occupied premises, ensuring minimal disruption.
• Ability to provide valid electrical certificates of compliance (COC) where electrical work is involved.
