Objectives

The primary objective of this procurement is to acquire reliable, high-quality anatomical markers to support accurate radiological imaging at Madadeni Hospital’s Radiology Department. The tender aims to eliminate diagnostic errors caused by incorrect left/right orientation on X-ray films, ensure patient safety, and comply with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health’s supply chain management policies, including preferential procurement frameworks.

Scope

This is a once-off goods supply contract covering the sourcing, packaging, and delivery of left and right anatomical markers to the designated hospital facility. The scope includes all logistics, handling, and delivery costs to the Radiology Department. The quotation validity period is ninety days, and the contract period is once-off upon award. Delivery must align with the timeline specified in the official purchase order, and all pricing must be firm and inclusive of applicable taxes and freight.

Technical Requirements

• Product must comprise dedicated left and right anatomical markers specifically designed for radiographic use.
• The directional indicators ("L" and "R") must be constructed using lead material to ensure proper radiopacity on X-ray images.
• Each marker must include a designated area for radiographer initials.
• A securing string must be permanently attached to prevent loss during clinical procedures.
• All supplied units must be brand new, unused, and retain a minimum shelf life of six months from the delivery date. Expired or second-hand items will be rejected.
• Bidders must formally confirm compliance with the detailed specification annexure and may be required to submit physical samples upon written request for quality verification.
• Pricing must be fixed, inclusive of VAT (if registered), and must cover all delivery expenses to the prescribed destination.

Skills & Compliance Requirements

• Administrative compliance: Submission of all mandatory Standard Bidding Documents (SBDs), including disclosure of interest, tax clearance validation, and active Central Suppliers Database (CSD) registration.
• Regulatory compliance: Holding a valid licence from the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) to legally supply radiological equipment.
• Proven capacity: Provision of at least one official order accompanied by a signed delivery note or invoice demonstrating prior experience in supplying similar medical or radiological goods.
• Preferential procurement: Correct completion of the SBD 6.1 claim form to qualify for points based on 100% Black African ownership.
• Operational reliability: Ability to meet delivery schedules without delay, maintain financial stability throughout the contract, and respond promptly to sample requests or quality inspections.
