Objectives

The tender aims to procure annual and quarterly maintenance services for cooling towers at Grey's Hospital. The primary objective is to ensure the proper functioning, cleanliness, and maintenance of cooling towers through scheduled servicing, water sampling, chemical treatment, and associated repairs to prevent operational disruptions and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Performing one annual service and three quarterly services on 2 cooling towers.
• Cleaning nozzles and ensuring even spray distribution.
• Greasing fan bearings and replacing fan belts for 4 fans.
• Taking water samples during each service and sending them for lab testing.
• Adding chemicals based on lab results.
• De-rusting and painting pipes and cooling towers, including touch-ups on corroded spots.
• Painting the entire plantroom floor with grey stoop paint.
• Cleaning the plantroom area.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Service to cooling towers with CIDB Grading 1ME.
• Compliance with South African standards and safety regulations.
• Use of approved chemicals and materials for cleaning, painting, and maintenance.
• Provision of safety files and adherence to occupational health and safety standards.
• Proper documentation of faults, repairs, and water analysis reports.
• Use of equipment and tools suitable for the scope of work, including painting and rust removal.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires contractors to possess:

• CIDB registration with a minimum of 1ME grading or above.
• Certified technicians with relevant trade test certificates (e.g., Fitter Trade Test).
• Experience in cooling tower maintenance, water treatment, and painting.
• Knowledge of South African safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Ability to prepare safety plans and programme of works.
• Capability to perform lab water analysis and chemical treatment adjustments.
• Proper documentation and reporting skills for maintenance activities and compliance.
