Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure annual servicing and maintenance of fire extinguishers and related firefighting equipment at Mbongolwane Hospital and associated clinics. The service aims to ensure all firefighting equipment complies with safety standards, remains operational, and is properly documented through certificates and maintenance records.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Annual servicing of fire extinguishers, fire hose reels, fire hydrants, and associated installations across Mbongolwane Hospital and clinics.
• Inspection, testing, and certification of firefighting equipment, including hydrostatic and low-pressure tests.
• Preparation and submission of maintenance records, service reports, and certificates.
• Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with applicable SANS/SABS standards and hospital safety requirements.
• Inventory management and record keeping of all firefighting equipment.
• Provision of technical advice and recommendations for future maintenance and safety improvements.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All fire extinguishers and equipment must be serviced annually, with certificates issued for hydrostatic and low-pressure tests.
• Fire extinguishers must be filled with SABS-approved powders.
• Fire hose reels and other firefighting equipment must be inspected, maintained, signposted, and kept accessible.
• All testing, servicing, and maintenance must comply with relevant SANS/SABS standards.
• Equipment removal from site is prohibited without replacement units installed by accredited technicians.
• Service providers must provide detailed reports, certificates, and maintenance records.

Skills and Qualification Requirements

Service providers must demonstrate:

• Proof of accreditation with SABS/SANS 1475 for fire equipment servicing.
• Certification of technicians by recognized fire safety bodies (e.g., SAQCC Fire Accreditation).
• CIDB registration (Grade 1-3) for service providers involved in fire equipment maintenance.
• Proof of good standing with the Department of Labour and relevant safety authorities.
• Valid tax clearance and compliance with SARS regulations.
• Experience in servicing firefighting equipment in healthcare or similar environments.
• Ability to provide detailed service reports, certificates, and maintain accurate records.
