Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to secure a service provider for the annual maintenance and servicing of the fire protection systems at Mosvold Hospital. The aim is to ensure that all fire safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, hose reels, and fire detection systems, are maintained in optimal working condition to comply with safety standards and regulations.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Complete inspection, servicing, preventive maintenance, and repair of fire fighting equipment as per SANS 1475 standards.
• Replacement of equipment components on loan until serviced and reinstalled.
• Weighing, external inspection, and checking for corrosion, damage, and functionality of fire extinguishers and hoses.
• Repair or replacement of defective parts, including hoses, nozzles, gas cartridges, seals, and other components.
• Pressure testing of CO2 cylinders every five years and other equipment every three years.
• Provision of certificates of service and compliance labels on equipment.
• Emergency repairs and interim maintenance as required.
• Training of hospital staff on fire equipment handling if necessary.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All servicing must conform to SANS 1475-1, 0105, 019, and 1576 standards.
• Technicians must be registered with SAQCC Fire and competent to service fire equipment; proof of registration must be provided.
• Equipment must be replaced with similar units on loan during servicing.
• All repairs and maintenance must be completed within 15 working days of receiving the order.
• Pressure testing of cylinders must be carried out at specified intervals, with documentation provided.
• All equipment must be inspected, repaired, and tested to ensure 100% operational condition.
• Servicing includes replenishing powders, replacing seals, testing for leaks, and ensuring hoses and nozzles are in good condition.
• All documentation, certificates, and labels must be properly issued and affixed to equipment.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Qualified and registered technicians with SAQCC Fire certification.
• Experience in servicing fire safety equipment in healthcare or similar environments.
• Ability to carry out pressure testing, repairs, and maintenance in accordance with national standards.
• Capacity to provide emergency repairs and interim maintenance services promptly.
• Capability to supply all necessary spares, parts, and consumables required for comprehensive servicing.
• Proven track record of compliance with safety standards and successful completion of similar projects.
