Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure annual servicing of generators at East Boom Community Health Centre (EBCHC). The service aims to ensure the generators operate reliably, are maintained according to specified standards, and meet safety and performance requirements. Additionally, the tender seeks to promote local enterprise participation through preferential procurement points and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Carrying out a major 960-hour service on a 160 KVA diesel generator at East Boom CHC, as per the checklist provided by the Department of Health and Department of Public Works.
• Providing a detailed post-service report, including sampling of replaced parts.
• Ensuring all replaced items remain property of the institution and are handed over upon completion.
• Adhering to technical specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements outlined in the tender documents.
• Completing all work within the specified contract period, with provisions for warranty and routine inspections.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with KwaZulu-Natal Province Standard Specification for Mechanical Equipment and Electrical Installation for Mechanical Services.
• Carrying out the service in accordance with relevant SABS, IEC, and OHS standards.
• Use of new, unused, and latest pattern equipment and parts bearing SABS marks where possible.
• Provision of electrical certificates of compliance for electrical works.
• Inspection, testing, and commissioning of the generator post-service.
• Guarantee against faulty workmanship and mechanical defects for 12 months.
• Provision of detailed reports and samples of replaced parts.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Qualified and experienced technicians skilled in generator maintenance and electrical works.
• Familiarity with the technical specifications, standards, and safety regulations applicable to generator servicing.
• Ability to produce comprehensive reports, certificates, and documentation as required.
• Capacity to supply quality spare parts and perform repairs efficiently within the stipulated timeframe.
• Knowledge of local procurement policies and preference point systems to ensure compliance and eligibility for evaluation.
